What is a magnet school and how is it different from other schools?
A: A magnet
school is a school designed to attract students based on their interest,
ability or need for a "theme" subject area. (Examples of themes
are: Math\Science, Arts, Communications, etc.)

What are the prerequisites for magnet school enrollment?
A: Students
should be eligible for the grade level for which they apply. There are
no specific academic requirements. It is advisable that parents and students
consult school personnel, prior to enrollment, to become familiar with
the challenging curriculum offered at magnet schools.

Is transportation provided?
A: Transportation
is provided for students who attend a school two or more miles away from
their home. Bus schedules are available from your resident district's
transportation office.

Do magnet schools have sports, cheerleaders and band?
A: All magnet
schools have age-appropriate extracurricular activities. Many of our sports
and academic teams have won local, state, regional, and national awards.

How do I choose a magnet school?
Reading our brochure, watching the magnet school
video, reading the magnet school newsletters and information on the magnet
school website are helpful in magnet school selection. Magnet school parents
indicate that a visit to magnet schools during the school day helped them
make a clear choice. To arrange a magnet school tour, call the school's
office.

If I complete and return a magnet school application, how long will it
take to find out if I'm in a magnet school?
A: Applications
received during the initial application period receive notification quickly.
Applications received later in the school year will take a longer time
to process.
