A: Magnet schools are PUBLIC SCHOOLS and are tuition free.

Q: What is a magnet school and how is it different from other schools?
A: A magnet school is a school designed to attract students based on their interest, ability or need for a "theme" subject area. (Examples of themes are: Math and Science, Arts, Communications, etc.)

Q: What are the prerequisites for magnet school enrollment?
A: Students should be eligible for the grade level for which they apply.There are no prerequisites for elementary and middle magnet schools. There are limited prerequisites for SOME theme areas at Parkview Magnet High School. It is advisable that parents and students consult school personnel, prior to enrollment, to become familiar with the challenging curriculum offered at magnet schools.

Q: Is transportation provided?
A:Transportation is provided for students who live one or more miles away from their school. Bus schedules are available from your resident district's transportation office.

Q: Do magnet schools have sports, cheerleaders and band?
A: All magnet schools have age-appropriate extracurricular activities. Many of our sports and academic teams have won local, state, regional, and national awards.

Q: How do I choose a magnet school?
A: Prospective parents may read brochures, newsletters, websites, and Facebook pages to help them choose a magnet school.

 Magnet school parents indicate that a visit to magnet schools during the school day helped them make a clear choice. To arrange a magnet school tour, call the school's office.

Q: If I complete and return a magnet school application, how long will it take to find out if I'm in a magnet school?
A: Applications received during the initial application period receive notification quickly. Applications received later in the school year will take a longer time to process.
